Steels Gate Wines
The Steels Gate story centres on winemakers Brad Atkins and Matthew Davis who have been producing wine from their ‘Home Block’ at the very top of Steels Creek in the Yarra Valley since 2010.
Steels Gate Home Block Vineyard is situated at 230m above sea level and was planted in the late 1970’s on an undulating slope on friable grey loam soils. The block which is surrounded by King Lake National park consists of 50:50 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines and is completely un-irrigated and hand nurtured.
Situated in the picturesque hillside setting at Dixons Creek, Steels Gate Cellar Door and Restaurant is located just 60km from the heart of Melbourne.
Heartswood
Heartswood is the first venue for Matt Binney and partner Bianca. Situated in the old Colonial Bank building in Yarra Glen, the desire was to create something relaxed yet refined for the local community. Formerly the Head Chef at Merricote (now closed) in Northcote, Matt seeks to create a venue that embraces the exceptional produce of the Yarra Valley.

Home is Yarra Glen, a town that the Yarra River lazily slides through on the western side of the Yarra Valley at the base of the precipitous Christmas Hills range. The vineyards where our wines are grown are secreted into the hills to the west and the Steels Creek and Dixons Creek valleys to the north of the township.
The Bobar wines are made simply but with precision, intent and craft. They are natural wines without chicanery, thumping or whirring and are an unbridled expression of this part of the Yarra Valley’s unique confluence of climate and terrain. Bobar wines are made with love, passion and soul.
