As a talker… I have always thought writing blogs is not my thing!!

But here’s the thing… when I do actually write down stuff and then go back and read it I kinda like it.

So this is my time to starting writing… not sure that it will mean I will talk less!

Why SHE Says….

Well SHESays has been around for quite some time now.  It was actually born at a high top round table at the Slip Inn Bar in Sydney.  You know the bar where Mary met her Prince Frederick!!

Whilst sitting with me dear friend Vanessa (yes another Vanessa…VM) I was trying to come up with a name for my business..offering a range of consulting services to the Spa & Hospitality industry… my background.

And there it was conceived…. VM blurted out (although she is not really a blurter she is much more controlled than that )…what about SHE Says….. Spa Hospitality Enterprises and Says because what you say goes.  Well that is how I remember it, feel free to ask her her version.

So for the next few years my consulting business was SHESays Consulting and it ticked over nicely. As life progresses… I fell in love, got married and had a slight career diversion ended up managing my husband’s business CNBSafe… so SHESays moved to be the back burner but was still alive.  

As I was now working in the world of Safety I considered evolving SHESays to Safety, Health and Environment (gotta love a good acronym) and develop a womens safety clothing range.  This was way before pink high vis shirts were a thing. As it turned out CNBSafe was certainly enough to keep me busy and although I was already in a Stepmum role and loved it, I then become a Mum of our daughter so I was happy juggling the balls I already had.

Step forward several years and my nagging brain was in full play….

I love people, I love connecting people, I love networking with people, I love talking to people and I love working & helping people.

Having worked for myself for over 17 years now in a variety of industries from recruiting, hospitality, software training, human resources, business management and for the last 10 plus years growing a safety speaker & training company… I know I have made lots of connections, learnt endless skills of how to and how not to do things in business.  When to do it yourself or when to consult an expert or tap into resources that are available…. but I learnt by trial and error, by some working straight away and some not.

Costly experiences both mentally and financially are enormously beneficial in the long term.

But my question to myself was… how can I help small business owners and operators short circuit some of these pitfalls and experiences and help them thrive quicker.
